It was established that in August 2023, a resident of the Paninsky district killed an 11-month-old calf. which belonged to the man’s sister. The animal was not vaccinated against anthrax, was slaughtered in a private yard and not in a specially selected place, and was not provided to a veterinarian for preventive and intravital examination. The resulting meat was sold to meat retailers Amil Asadov and Rovshan Rustamov, after which a 50-year-old resident of the Paninsky district bought the carcass from them and sold “1000 pieces” on the domestic market. As a result of the examination of meat samples, it turned out that it was contaminated with anthrax. A quarantine was established within a radius of 2 km from the market, the cost of which amounted to 1.2 million rubles, and meat sellers were convicted. A criminal case has been initiated against the seller under Part 1 of Art. 249 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of veterinary rules, which through negligence resulted in the spread of an epizootic or other serious consequences), which was then sent to court. The article provides for up to two years of imprisonment. The ex-doctor was charged under Part 1 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence). The maximum penalty under the article is detention for three months. — The investigative authorities have collected a sufficient evidence base, which is based on the testimony of many witnesses, records of inspections and seizures, as well as other investigative and procedural actions. During the preliminary investigation, the woman fully admitted her guilt, the criminal case was considered in a special manner, the Investigative Committee reported.
