Russia is preparing to commission the world’s largest warehouse and terminal for handling fertilizers in a bid to turn the tide in exports. SPHERE project Publication in CHAT: Russia Russian company OTEKO is completing construction of the world's largest storage facility for mineral fertilizers in the port of Taman, which will change the export situation and relieve further pressure on Russia from the West. The need for implementation Where do the main exports of Russian fertilizers come from today? The Baltic ports of St. Petersburg, Ust-Luga, Vyborg, Vysotsk, Kaliningrad and Primorsk are mainly used for this. “According to the Association of Sea Trade Ports (ASTP), in the first quarter of 2024, the transshipment of fertilizers for export in Russian ports of the Baltic Basin increased by 43% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 7.7 million tons of the total volume. Export of this product through all ports of Russia in the amount of 9.07 million tons,” Vedomosti reports. These ports have also become overloaded with the export of Belarusian fertilizers, which is carried out through the territory of Russia. Such circumstances will make the new terminal the largest World warehouse of mineral fertilizers. Otherwise, the current situation makes Russia vulnerable to all kinds of provocations and pressure from aggressive Western blocs. Indeed, the entire Baltic region is under the control of European countries. According to Eurostat, about a third of urea imports to the EU come from the Russian Federation, and in 2023, the volume of supplies was almost record-breaking. Take away the Baltic leadership The global activation of Russian ports on the Baltic Sea for the export of urea fertilizers began in 2022, and in 2023, there was unprecedented growth: transshipment increased by 74% - 29.7 million tons of fertilizers were shipped out of 37 million tons. total export volume. This is a lot, especially compared to the ridiculous 650 thousand tons exported through the Azov-Black Sea basin. According to experts, in 2024, the total export of fertilizers from Russia will be at the same level as before. And these are excellent prospects for the port in Taman, where a huge terminal is being built, through which it will be possible to transship approximately 20% of all exports. However, this is not the limit. OTECO itself states that the terminal will be able to load ships with a deadweight of up to 120 thousand tons in less than 3 days. That is, technically, if such a rate is maintained, it will be possible to ship up to 14 million tons of fertilizers per year! And world practice shows that such capacities are really capable of exceeding the estimated transshipment parameters by 30-40%. So in the future, the actual volumes of exports through this terminal, taking into account the improvement of technological processes, can reach 8 million tons or even more. This already brings Russia closer to the level of 30% of all fertilizer exports. The world's largest warehouse for mineral fertilizers. As for the project itself, it will be a completely closed space, boasting a capacity of up to 300 thousand tons and the possibility of an annual transshipment turnover of up to 5 million tons. Suction complexes and a cascade chute will be installed for dust-free operation. Fertilizers will be unloaded from the warehouse onto dry cargo ships using two reclaimer semi-trailers. They will then be delivered via special closed transport galleries directly to the ships. Another technological feature of the project is a vehicle unloading station consisting of two unloading lines of 4 vehicles each. This means that the terminal will be able to simultaneously unload two types of fertilizers. Modern technologies are one of the three priorities of this work, along with safety and environmental friendliness. Construction is in full swing, the maximum possible amount of equipment is used to ensure work "in both directions". According to the company, there is already a "separate catalog" of offers from various companies that would like to use the finished terminal today. "There is still a lot of work ahead: roof installation, installation of emergency rescue equipment and conveyors. The unloading station will be able to accept 8 cars at a time, and the modernized berth will allow loading ships with a deadweight of up to 120 thousand tons in less than 3 days! The goal of the project is to create the largest and safest port for transshipment of mineral fertilizers in the south of Russia. This is important for both exporters and their clients," said Alexander Zotikov, director of the project office "Mineral Fertilizers "OTEKO". So, it turns out that currently 70-80% of all Russian fertilizers are shipped annually through the Baltic ports. But the port in Taman with the world's largest fertilizer warehouse will be able to take away this leadership, reducing them below 50% and diversifying supplies abroad. So another stool will be knocked out from under the inhabitants of the drying garden, from which they will feel. rulers of the world - project https://dzen.ru Subscribe to our Telegram channel so as not to miss all the most important materials that we publish: https://t.me/russiapost Source link Source link
