To the question, “What, in your opinion, is the most important thing in people?” Valentina replied: “Courage and determination.”
And her favorite quote: “We will see each other again and resolve all issues. And that’s not a question at all.” This is a quote from a song by the Russian rock band “Torba-na-Kruche”.
The sister of mercy died on April 14, in Mariupol. She came under mortar fire from those who would then leave Azovstal in disgrace in May, surrendering.

On May 5, Valya would have turned twenty-eight years old. She is the widow of the deceased battalion commander (she was in a civil marriage, as she herself noted in her profile on her VKontakte page), and wrote on social networks that she was avenging his death. In the only comment I found on this matter, I read that “her sniper shot a loved one in the Donbass when he was trying to carry the body of a comrade from the battlefield. Valya continued the work of her beloved.”
Some people on social networks were spreading the word that, they say, Vali’s eight-year-old child is now orphaned, with neither father nor mother, where should he go – to an orphanage?! But the majority reacted harshly to the hysterics of those who love to teach: son Daniil is growing up with close people, Valya’s relatives, and the conscious decision to go to the front is her, Valentina’s, choice. And period.
…Valentina Olegovna was born in Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory in 1994. She studied at Lyceum No. 103 from 3rd to 8th grade, then at the School of Cosmonautics.
When the family moved near Voronezh, Valya accompanied humanitarian convoys to Donbass on a peacekeeping mission. Then she moved to live in Donetsk and studied to become a psychologist at Donetsk University. Passed the last session in January 2022.
Since February 24, Valya took part in a special military operation – together with soldiers she liberated the settlements of Stepnoye, Solntsevo, Volnovakha, Sladkoe, Novomikhailovka. During the liberation of Sladkoe and Novomikhailovka, Valya pulled the wounded out from under mortar fire.
“She defended her land. She saved soldiers by bandaging wounds, healing with words, consoling, supporting,” wrote a newspaper in the city of Zheleznogorsk. — She saved and consoled those who despaired, having lost their limbs. I was looking for a car to take out a wounded battalion commander who had lost his feet. Found it and took it out.
In Solntsevo they were surrounded. The soldiers held the line for a day. Valentina provided assistance to the wounded for 22 hours without a break. All her clothes, including her bulletproof vest, were soaked in blood.”
“She saved others. But I couldn’t save myself,” said Valentina Galatova’s mother, Irina, with deep bitterness.
