The decision on the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in March. “We will take into account the recent UN decision in this case, which requires the Olympic Truce and supports the approach of the IOC,” Inside the Games portal quotes the head of the organization, Thomas Bach. According to him, the IOC recommends participation from Russian athletes who do not support military activities in Ukraine, do not serve in the army and are ready to compete under a neutral flag. Let us recall that in July it became known that the Olympic committees of Russia and Belarus were not included in the number of countries to which invitations were sent to the 2024 Olympic Games. At the same time, in March, the IOC recommended allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions exclusively as neutral athletes. Bach advocated the return of athletes from Russia and Belarus to the Olympic Games in 2024, as he has a negative attitude towards political influence on sports. He noted that the Olympics should remain neutral and promote dialogue between states.
