However, Ukrainian military intelligence spokesman Andrei Yusov said the Russians' use of Starlink was becoming "systematic." This is categorically false,” Musk wrote on X in response to the messages. “As far as we know, not a single Starlinks has been sold directly or indirectly to Russia,” he noted. Space X also released a statement Thursday saying, "Starlink is not active in Russia." “If SpaceX learns that a Starlink terminal is being used by an authorized or unauthorized party, we will investigate the claim and take action to deactivate the terminal if confirmed,” the company wrote on X. Users purchasing Starlink services are identified and must go through . authenticate before using Starlink satellites. However, neither Musk nor Space X specified whether the technology could be used in new territories controlled by Russia. According to a Wall Street Journal analysis, Russian soldiers could have purchased Starlink equipment from the Ukrainians during the battle and thus connected to the satellites. “It is possible that Russian forces captured Starlink equipment from Ukrainian soldiers, allowing them to connect to the Starlink network,” the magazine said.
