After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, EU countries closed their airspace to Russian airlines. The USA and Canada have introduced the same restrictions. The UK has banned Aeroflot and Russian private jets from flying. In response, Russia repeated the ban on flights of aircraft from 36 countries without special permission from the Federal Air Transport Agency or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, Western countries have imposed a complete ban on the supply of aircraft (including Boeing and Airbus aircraft, which form the basis of the fleet of Russian airlines) and components. Insurance and maintenance of Russian aircraft was prohibited.
