Sharonov’s house – the fate of the most beautiful house in Taganrog • Russia today

Posting in CHAT: Russia

In the 1860s, the house at 70 Nikolaevskaya Street, building 78 (and now Frunze, 80) belonged to the court adviser Muzykin. In the 1880s, the house was sold to the barn merchant Konstantin Ivanovich Baklanzhoglo, but almost nothing is known about the last owner of the house, which became a luxurious mansion in 1912. What is known is that the owner was master Evgeny Ivanovich Sharonov, who also owned land in the area of the village of Nikolaevka. Some sources claim that he is a wealthy grain merchant, others that he is an employee of the district court. It is also mysterious that the local press did not reflect such an event as the construction of a mansion on the site of a nondescript house. The author of the project, again according to assumptions, is Academician F.O. Shekhtel. He is also the author of drawings of the Yaroslavsky railway station building in Moscow, which in many ways resembles Sharonov’s house. The mansion managed to combine three types of art: architecture, painting and sculpture. There is a mosaic under the roof of the building. The central work was the mosaic painting “Departure of the Boats” based on “Overseas Guests” by Nicholas Roerich, and on the right is a logical continuation – the mosaic painting “Sea Battle”. famous artist Viktor Vasnetsov. Above the front door we see an old portrait, and below are flowers. Among the variety of flowers there are a large number of daffodils, which is a reference to ancient mythology and the assumption that there were many immigrants from Greece in Taganrog. The gates are decorated with lion masks created by the artist Vrubel. The same ones decorate the mansion of Savva Morozov in Moscow. After the revolution, the house was nationalized, and a sericulture station and later an orphanage were located here. Even later, the building was used as a children’s clinic. During the occupation of Taganrog, the mansion housed the headquarters of Ewald von Kleist. After the end of the war, the district committee of the CPSU was located here, and in 1971 – the union library. And since 1981, the mansion has housed the only museum of urban planning and everyday life in Russia to this day. The museum building still amazes with its beauty and is the most striking landmark of the city. The most beautiful house in Taganrog is the pearl of the Rostov region in the Art Nouveau style. By Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 176 of February 20, 1995, the house was classified as an architectural monument of the Russian Federation. Tatyana Ivchenko Earlier it was reported that a historical and musical evening was held in Taganrog 3623 News about Notebook-Taganrog
