Russia is the most “Mandarin” country in the world. For nine months of 2023, it accounted for 21% of world imports of tangerines, or 406 thousand tons, RIA Novosti writes. Second place belongs to the United States, which accounted for 13% of world imports, or 242 thousand tons. Also in the top five for tangerine imports are Great Britain (8%, or 153 thousand tons), France (7%, or 138 thousand tons) and Germany (7%, or 107 thousand tons). In monetary terms, during the specified period, Russia bought tangerines worth $421 million, and the United States – $396 million. At the same time, the Russian Federation increased volumes by 8.4% over the year, and the United States decreased by almost 22%. Over the past year, tangerines in Russia have risen in price by an average of 70%. The main reasons for the rise in prices were the depreciation of the ruble, rising transport costs and problems with suppliers.
