The fashion industry forum took place in Vladivostok the day before, on November 23, at the Vladivostok Grand Hotel & SPA. As part of the “Fashion Alliance of Creative Industries of Primorye” project, local designers presented concepts for the development of their own brands, participated in competitions, and of course, presented their collections to the public. The participants competed for the main prize- two million rubles for clothing production and the opportunity to market it in a large federal retail network. The competition for promoting the “MAKI” project lasted one month. During this time, designers underwent training, presented ideas for scaling their brands, and received feedback from invited experts such as Alexander Peremyatov, founder of the federal network of Russian designer warehouses SLAVA Concept, Natalya Karpova, head of the “Fashion Alliance of Creative Industries of Primorye”, Natalya Boyko, creative producer of the SLAVA concept, and Andrei Blokhin, Minister of Economic Development of Primorsky Krai, among others. The culmination of the project was the fashion industry forum at the five-star hotel in Vladivostok. At this event, a correspondent from VL.ru was present at the presentation and grand show of the best Primorsky brands. Only seven manufacturing companies participated in the forum’s pitch session, which were selected from several dozen Primorsky brands. They had the opportunity to present their production scaling projects to potential investors in an open format- anyone could attend and listen. After each presentation, experts provided detailed comments, explaining what the brands needed to improve in their projects. However, often the speakers praised the presentations: one of the jury members noted that all the speeches were of a very high level- “there was nothing to find fault with”. The companies had the difficult task of formulating their goals, listing the necessary investments or measures of state support, and briefly describing their brand or production at the initial meeting. The entrepreneurs often added to their project presentation a story of how they had to start clothing production- selling a car or even a flat. The beginning of their career was a difficult stage for many, but now these people are full of ambition and new ideas. “We plan to open our own cluster. Of course, the goal is not for two or three years, but for the next five years and beyond- but we are ready to invest in it. We want to have modern classrooms, our own production, photo zones, departments with designers, fashion designers, and fashion shows. We note that everything that MAKI is doing now happens in non-specialized places. There is simply nowhere to hold such events. So, we are like “bums”. But there should be a place that will combine modern production and creative spaces”, – Alexander Zavyalov, founder of the ANUTINA brand, shared his idea. There was also a specific request from the Lesozavodskiy Combine- to create branches and sewing workshops in the municipalities where local residents will work. For this, companies need the opportunity for long-term rent under preferential conditions. Minister of Economic Development of Primorsky Krai Andrei Blokhin promised to help with this. Due to the extensive presentations and expert comments, the long-awaited grand fashion show was postponed. Several hundred spectators came to see the best collections- the organizers did not expect so many guests and hastily set up additional chairs, but there were not enough, and many had to stand. Designers said they had prepared seriously for the show. A strict online selection process was conducted between the waterfront brands’ applications. Those chosen to participate in the show had to prepare documents such as a line sheet (a document containing all the information about the collection) as well as a list and photos of models, a few days in advance. Many people collected collections specifically for this event. For Primorye, according to participants and organizers, this was a completely new level. A total of 14 coastal brands participated in the show. The show started with children in clothing from the original collection “Myths and Legends of Primorsky Krai”: blue dresses to the floor with Gzhel painting, with kokoshnik headbands on their heads, and the young models held signs with views and landscapes of the coast. Then, after the welcoming words of the host and jury members, the models representing the collection of the first participant, Vladivostok designer Lyudmila Goranskaya, came to the stage. Each designer presented 5-10 images in their collection. Everyone tried to surprise the audience- present their images in an original and interesting way, coming up with non-standard movements. The brand Evernit was presented at the show- children in white t-shirts, yellow panamas, and branded socks walked on the catwalk with chairs, putting on a small show for the audience. The brand Axefeel was also presented at the show: the models presented wetsuits, solid swimsuits, and sportswear. The models of the Feel brand by designer Tatyana Romanenko walked on the catwalk with pillows and in pajamas. All guests were delighted by the little models wearing clothes from the Nakhodka designer Ulyana Gromozova. The show closed with a collection from the brand JUNE by designer Lyubov Filippova. “This was my first show- of course, it was very exciting. I have children, it was really endlessly beautiful, and partly it was easier for me, because my children also participated in the show. There were eight models, it was difficult to find them, there were very few children’s models- children from 5 to 10 years old participated in the show. I am very pleased with how everything went, it was an excellent, priceless experience, but Due to the fact that I am from Nakhodka, I had to constantly travel to Vladivostok or solve all issues related to the show remotely. To prepare for this event, I had only a week- I sewed everything specifically for this show in my little sewing shop”, – Ulyana Gromozova, designer of children’s clothing “Khlopok”

After the show, the jury had to decide which companies would receive the main prize, and they went to a lengthy meeting. Guests and designers were left waiting for the verdict, discussing the just-ended show. At this time, the Vladivostok indie rock band “he-he-he” performed for the spectators. “I am very glad that the state in our country is finally paying attention to the revival of the textile industry, fashion industry, and the creative industry in general. I also belong to this industry, including being an organizer of fashion shows. Then I realized that people had already begun to pay attention to this, with each year everything is developing, and this is only the beginning. Today the organization was at a very high level- it is clear that the financial support is very good. The collections are all very beautiful, you cannot say that one is better than the other- they are all different, they cannot be compared. This is the impulse of the designers’ souls, and it is good that they showed it to people”, – shared the guest of the show, Vladivostok poetess Anna Katsman. The winners of the show received certificates for two million rubles- for the production of clothing sold in the federal online network “Concept SLAVA”. A total of six winning brands were awarded certificates at the show: swimwear brand Axefeel, Dap86, Evernit, JUNE, Danishine, and Round. Concrete. According to the founder of the SLAVA concept Alexander Peremyatov, the main task for the brands now is to sign a contract with the warehouse. Because there may already be difficulties at this stage, and they need to be worked out. “For us, the most important thing is that we not only sell your brands throughout Russia and increase sales but also work productively with each brand. For us, the most important thing is how the brand is invested, and we have already said that we are ready to support brands in your regions. Today we have taken the best step in promoting Russian brands, Primorsky Krai brands. Soon we will start working with those brands that won, and, of course, will be in touch every day- there is still much work to be done”, – Natalya Boyko, creative producer of the federal network of Russian designer warehouses SLAVA concept, summed up the awards ceremony. It is worth noting that the forum was organized by the project “Fashion Alliance of Creative Industries of Primorye”, the Ministry of Economic Development of Primorsky Krai, and the “My Business” center. The event took place within the framework of the regional project “Creating conditions for a smooth start and comfortable trade.”
