Half of educational institutions do not have evacuation control systems. To ensure the safety of schoolchildren, investments in the amount of 719 million rubles are required. This amount will make it possible to update fences, improve lighting, clear the area of bushes, purchase video surveillance and evacuation systems, and install alarm systems. According to information received from representatives of the city administration, Yekaterinburg must gradually solve the problem of the lack of fences and lighting on the territory of 15% of institutions, as well as installation of security alarms and evacuation control systems in 62% and 45% of buildings, respectively. The city budget for 2024 plans to allocate 36 million rubles to update the security system in schools, which is only 5% of the required amount. The administration promises to use all saved funds for these purposes. For example, in 2023, 17 million rubles were allocated for these purposes, and 96 million rubles were spent. The mayor’s office warns that fully equipping schools with all the requirements will require time and financial investments over several years.
