The recommended maximum catch for cod is 311,587 tonnes. This is 31% less than the 2023 quota and recommendations. The haddock quota could be 106,912 tonnes, also 24% lower than a year ago. The spawning stock of cod is declining, and therefore a decision was made to reduce fishing quotas, the NRC reports.
