Fraudsters place various advertisements in residents’ conversations, such as about sales, services, and gifts. A new fraud scheme is spreading in the Saratov Region, in which fraudsters enter “home chats” of apartment buildings and place various advertisements there. This was warned by the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the department, fraudsters place various advertisements in residents’ conversations, such as about sales and services. These can also be requests for donations for the treatment of a sick child or help for an animal shelter. Photos can be attached to the messages. Then, in private messages, it turns out that an advance payment must be sent, after receiving which the “neighbor” disappears with the money. Police officers urge: – not to trust strangers in instant messages, even if they introduce themselves as neighbors; – insist on a personal meeting (if the neighbor is real, then most likely he will not refuse); – pay only after concluding a written agreement, in the case of large sums; – participate in charity events only after you are sure that the money goes into the hands of those who really need it.
