The regional stage of the professional championship “Professionals” and the championship of high technologies is coming to an end in the Samara region. Starting from March 20, young schoolchildren from the age of 14 had the opportunity to express themselves and show their skills on competition grounds, and from March 25, participants of the main age category – students of professional educational organizations – began to compete. The “Professionals” Championship is growing every year and expanding the list of competencies – this year 16 new areas have been added to the regional stage. For the first time, college and vocational school students compete in such areas as “Accounting”, “Copywriting”, “Motion Design”, “Hairdressing” and “Estimates”. One of the venues for the championship was the Samara College of Maintenance of Production Equipment named after Hero of the Russian Federation E.V. Zolotukhina. On the basis of this institution, in the second year, participants demonstrate their professional skills in the competency block “Production and Engineering Technologies”. March 27 became the starting point for the participants of the main age category – the third floor of the educational institution became a large workshop for the competencies “Welding Technologies”, “Manufacture of Metal Structures”, “Metalworking”. Behind the work stations, hidden by protective industrial curtains, dross flew and slag hammers clicked loudly: some students made parts for pipes and slabs, others presented a finished barbecue at the end of the day. The two workshops in which the contestants worked were equipped two years ago thanks to the Education national project. Updating the material and technical base of colleges is another indicator of how the system of secondary vocational education in the Samara region is developing in accordance with the needs of the economy, becoming more modern and practically oriented. Vladimir Bodrov, director of the Samara College of Maintenance of Production Equipment named after Hero of the Russian Federation E.V. Zolotukhin, noted how important it is for students to participate in professional skills competitions: “By participating in the All-Russian Movement Championship, students demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities that teachers and “masters” instilled in them.” The victories of the contestants and the passage of qualifying rounds are also the result of the work of the educational institution: this means that the training there is carried out at a high level.
