For Mother’s Day in Russia, which this year is celebrated on November 26, the charity organization “Children’s Villages – SOS” announced a social campaign “The Most Important Word”. During the event, funds will be raised for programs to help children left without family care and children from biological families who find themselves in difficult life situations. For the “Children’s Villages – SOS” campaign, a survey was conducted about the “most important word” of Russians. In a survey of 616 people over 18 years of age across Russia, it was shown that 57% of Russians consider the word “mother” to be the most important in the life of any person. 24% voted for the word “family”, 10% named “health”. The word “dad” received 0.3% of the votes. For 29% of survey participants, mom is the closest person, 38% chose the answer “the relationship is close, but mom doesn’t know everything about me (I take care of her).” 48% said that their mother cared and tried to provide them with everything they needed, and 9% of respondents admitted that other people cared for them more. In addition, 77% of respondents believe that the main purpose of a mother is to raise children, take care of loved ones and love; in second place (61%) is the answer “choose a worthy person”, in third (53%) is making friends for your children. “According to our survey, 4% of respondents do not know or do not remember their mother. The absence of a mother negatively affects the development of the child. That is why we always help adoptive parents preserve the relationship between children and their biological mothers, if they exist, if it is known how they can be found and if it is safe for the child himself,” commented Nikolai Slabzhanin, executive director of the charitable organization “Children’s Villages – SOS”
