My parents made it from homemade ground beef.
The tragedy occurred in one of the remote villages. Parents with many children (they had five children in total) decided to make their own sausage. From the leftover minced meat that was in the sausage stuffer, they fried two cutlets on an electric grill. One of them was given to the youngest son, who was playing in the kitchen in a child’s chair. After the baby ate it, he almost immediately complained of pain in his tummy. The child vomited. Frightened parents took him to the rural medical center. The baby got worse and worse. The paramedic called a helicopter to transport him to the local hospital.
But the baby did not wait for transportation. His lips turned blue and he stopped breathing. The exact cause has not yet been determined even after the autopsy. The remaining beef, lard and nitrite salt from which the cutlets were made were sent for examination.
As the mother of the deceased baby told us, there were no signs of trouble that day. The child felt well, in the morning he drank cocoa with all the children and played happily. When everyone ran to the hospital, only the kitten was left at home. He ate the remains of that same cutlet on the floor and soon died too. A criminal case has been opened for causing death by negligence. The family is prosperous, they were not registered anywhere.
