The International Olympic Committee refused to allow Russian rowers, shooters and pentathletes to participate in the Olympics in Paris, even in a neutral status, URA.RU reports. The IOC invited 39 athletes from Russia and Belarus in a neutral status. Several wrestlers from Belarus declined invitations, and Russian cyclist Alexander Vlasov also refused to participate. In December 2023, the IOC Executive Committee admitted Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Paris Olympics in a neutral status in individual competitions. The committee allocated 54 quotas for athletes from Russia and another 28 for Belarusians. Among the IOC’s demands for neutral status is the lack of support for the Russian special operation in Ukraine and ties with the army and intelligence services.
