One of the most notorious killers of the 90s, Alexander Pustovalov, has been released from a maximum security colony in the settlement of Monino in the Moscow region, according to RIA Novosti. The killer, known in the criminal world as Sasha-Soldat, was tried three times, resulting in a 24-year prison sentence. Pustovalov was considered a super-killer, terrorizing other organized criminal groups in the country, resulting in the deaths of about 30 people attributed to him. Learn more about who Sasha Soldat is in the “Evening Moscow” report.
Alexander Pustovalov was born in Moscow in 1973 and had only eight years of secondary education. In his youth, he worked at the MV Khrunichev Engineering Plant. He served in the Marine Corps in the army and dreamed of working in the Special Rapid Response Unit (SOBR) upon his return. However, federal services refused to release him from duty, citing the requirement for a higher education, so Pustovalov found himself involved in criminal activity.
Pustovalov’s criminal career began with involuntary involvement in a contract killing. He then cooperated with his new “employers” after learning of the substantial sums they offered. His first murder was committed in the summer of 1995, and he continued to carry out numerous killings using various methods.
One of Pustovalov’s most notorious crimes was the murder of hired killer Alexander Solonik. According to the official version, Pustovalov was hired because Orenburg authority Osy Butorin felt that Solonik knew too much and posed a threat. After the murder of Solonik and his companion, members of the Orenburg criminal group became associated with the secret organization “White Arrow,” which organized the liquidation of criminals throughout the country.
In 1999, Pustovalov was arrested and during his interrogation, he remained calm and cooperated with the investigation. After five years of investigation, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison in 2004, and later two more court hearings took place. His cumulative prison sentence totaled 24 years.
In November 2023, it was reported that Pustovalov was to be released from prison after spending three years under police control. At the age of 50, authorities fear that he will not remain idle upon release, so he will be required to appear at the police station twice a month and is prohibited from leaving the city or going out at night.
