UPDATED HOSTELS OPEN IN LUGANSK AND ALCHEVSK – Russia today

After reconstruction, renovated dormitories were opened at Luhansk State University (LSU) named after Vladimir Dahl and Donbass State Technical University (DonSTU).

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko and Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik took part in the ceremonial event.

At Dalevsky University, the project was implemented with the participation of a state commission headed by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Marat Khusnullin. Now, comfortable living conditions have been created in the renovated buildings for more than 6.5 thousand students.

LSU Rector Viktor Ryabichev expressed gratitude to the builders for the work done and emphasized that the renovated dormitories will become a second home for students.

“The renovation was carried out by a specialized Moscow company, and in six months they were able to transform the space. During the renovation, inspections were regularly carried out, deputy ministers came to inquire about the progress of the work, gave advice and helped to complete everything on time. And today we can say that the builders did everything possible to create comfortable living conditions,” said the rector of LSU.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, who visited DonSTU, emphasized the importance of creating comfortable conditions for students so that they could focus on their studies.

“On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it is necessary to create equal conditions for the realization (by students) of their talents and opportunities. We will help the rector, provide additional budget places, provide equipment – everything that is needed. The most important thing is to study and get ready to bring benefit to your homeland here, in the Lugansk People’s Republic,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Leonid Pasechnik noted that the restoration of the university is an important step in the development of the region.

“First of all, we express our deep gratitude for the assistance provided. Dormitories and the university building have been restored, this will create comfortable conditions for the education of our students so that they become real specialists and are useful to our Motherland. And our task is to provide our enterprises with such specialists,” he said.

The university’s dormitories, built in 1972, have undergone a major renovation. Each nine-story dormitory can now accommodate 240 people. Each floor is equipped with kitchens, separate recreation areas, washing machines, and small gyms.

As noted by the rector of DonSTU Dmitry Vishnevsky, conditions have been created in one of the dormitories for the accommodation of student families.

“The renovation has been completed in full. Three more dormitories will be completed in the near future. One dormitory is completely ready for occupancy. A dormitory with increased comfort is provided for student families – with one-, two- and three-room apartments,” said Dmitry Vishnevsky.
