On November 6, competitions of the National Music Project “University” will begin in Syktyvkar. Students will represent regions of Russia from Karelia to the Kemerovo region. In addition, two foreign students – citizens of Angola and Nigeria – will take part in the competition. The project of the Russian Youth Union is being implemented under the auspices of the Government of the Komi Republic. The Univervision format differs from many vocal projects and allows participants not only to demonstrate their talent, but also to gain new experience of working with a professional jury and colleagues from different regions. The program includes competitive auditions, two semi-final concerts, work with specialists, an educational program and a final performance. The project involves students from educational organizations of higher education and professional educational organizations under the age of 35. More than 250 performers and creative groups took part in the extramural stage of the project in 2023. 31 soloists and 10 groups reached the full-time stage. Six participants will try their hand at Univervision for the second time. Two of last year’s participants will present their songs to the competition, and last year they performed covers. “This project holds a special place in my heart: I want to relive these emotions again, plunge into the atmosphere of creativity and music again, work on myself and create an amazing final show. Last year I was lucky enough to perform at the final concert in a duet with a specialist. Now I want to repeat at least a similar experience and, moreover, act as a finalist,” said Anastasia Shapochkina, a student at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. However, most of the participants are not professional singers, but students of classical or technical universities. “I have been dreaming about Univervision for several years. Last year I applied but was unsuccessful. Now I am very glad that I have this opportunity to represent my university and region at such a serious competition. I’m looking forward to meeting new people from the competition; I would like to show more people my original music,” said Olga Chernikova, a student at the Voronezh branch of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, about her plans. Vasily Perevoshchikov from Altai State University wanted to enter Univervision last year following his classmate. participated in the project: “She shared her emotions, and I immediately got excited about the idea of entering Univervision next year. And when the lists with my name arrived this year, my happiness knew no bounds!” Some participants fight for the right to become a Univervision contestant for several years: some pass the regional stages, but do not get into the project itself, while others have to wait until they become adults. “I applied to Univervision last year and passed. But then it turned out that minors were not allowed to participate, and I was 17 years old, so I had to watch “University” only on the monitor screen. I can’t say that I dreamed of enrolling, but I want to, since last year, because this is a good stage in the development of a singer. And also another opportunity to make new friends and acquaintances with common interests, with whom you will have the same warm relationships and memories “I believe that the “University” will show me my true feelings, desires and emotions,” says Olga Makienko, a student at the Nizhnevartovsk Construction College. Emmanuel Mbahotu from the Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogova said that he had long wanted to take part in this competition, but missed the registration information: “I am very glad that I found it on time this year. I love to participate. I travel, so I’m very glad that I’m going to another city for Univervision. I always liked to sing, but I only started playing a lot when I came to study in Russia.” The Komi Republic will be represented at the project by Kirill Boltunov, a student at the Medical Institute of Saratov State University named after Pitirim Sorokin. The winner will be given the right to participate in the 32nd All-Russian Festival “Russian Student Spring” in 2024. *** 13 years ago, the leadership of the Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University decided to support the student idea of creating a vocal competition. As a result, the musical project “University” appeared – the visiting card of the university and Currently, the founders and organizers of the project are the All-Russian public organization “Russian Youth Union”, the Government of the Komi Republic and the Pitirim Sorokin State University. The project is being implemented as part of the competition “Rosmolodezh. Grants” between educational organizations of higher education with the support of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh). The competition is a musical and educational project, which is based not only on a creative competition between performers, organized according to the Eurovision principle, but also on the extensive work of specialists with each participant to improve the level of vocal and stage skills. Project participants present cover versions of famous works or songs of their own composition.
