The Togliatti football club Akron, which entered the Russian Premier League, has not yet decided at which stadium it will hold its home league matches. This was reported by the Ministry of Sports of the Samara Region. Let us remind you that Akron entered the RPL on June 1 following the results of two playoff matches with Ural. The Ministry of Sports notes that the Zhiguli stadium “Crystal”, which is now Akron’s home ground, does not meet the requirements of the RPL regulations. The Tolyatti Torpedo stadium, which is municipally owned, is in need of reconstruction. “The Ministry of Sports is considering the issue of carrying out repairs using federal funds, but at the moment no positive decision has been received,” the department explains. Samara Metallurg also needs improvement to host RPL matches. Currently, in the Samara region there is one stadium that meets all the requirements of the regulations of the RFU and RPL – this is the Samara Arena, where the Samara Wings of the Soviets are also based. There have already been reports that Akron, if it enters the RPL, will be able to play home matches there. The ministry confirmed its readiness to provide Samara Arena to Akron. However, the final decision on where the club will play its home matches will be made by its leadership after the publication of the RPL regulations for the new season, the department noted.
