One of the largest exhibitions and forums since at least the collapse of the Soviet Union started today at VDNKh in Moscow. The exhibition-forum “Russia” should demonstrate the country’s achievements over the past 23 years, that is, during the reign of Vladimir Putin.
The scale of the event is amazing. All 89 subjects of the federation, 26 pavilions, 131 expositions are represented on an area of 265,000 square meters. 67 VDNKh facilities are occupied for the exhibition – such a scale was not possible even during the time of Stalin. At the opening of the exhibition, the singer Shaman sang along with 1,300 children.
For the New Year, 90 New Year trees will be displayed on the main alley of VDNKh – one in honor of the exhibition and 89 in honor of each Russian region.
The exhibition will last until April 12. The dates, as the organizers report, “were not chosen by chance”: the opening date is National Unity Day (November 4), the closing date is Cosmonautics Day (April 12).
Visitors to the event literally feel dizzy from the scale of what is happening, which is why reports from the exhibition are full of amazing discoveries and passages.
Thus, the REN-TV channel reports from the scene that “everything here literally breathes technology and progress.” But at the same time, the plot shows the Yamal pavilion, where polar bears greet visitors.
On the same TV channel, the entrance to the exhibition, made in the form of a giant tunnel, is compared to a hadron collider. The irony is that the hadron collider is a ring, a vicious circle.
For example, the Tambov region presented an interactive stand at the Russia exhibition, which demonstrated “the region’s achievements over 20 years.” As the organizers promise, visitors to the stand will learn about the creation of famous brands in the region – Tambov potatoes, Tambov ham, Michurin apples.
You can get to the Ivanovo region stand through the same doors that adorn the entrance to the railway station in the “chintz capital”. Inside, guests are greeted by an interactive map with a video presentation about how small towns have transformed in recent years. Also at the stand you can virtually ride a bicycle along landscaped embankments in Volga cities.
The Ulyanovsk region assembled an Il-76 cockpit with a flight simulator at VDNKh. For reference, the IL-76 multi-purpose strategic transport aircraft was invented in 1967.
But, of course, there are breakthroughs. For example, the Chechen Republic is presenting at the exhibition a working model of a “shahid mobile”, which can be used in the North-East Military District zone and in other important areas of the national economy.
As the same REN-TV channel told its viewers, “There are almost 200 nationalities in Russia, so each region has its own flavor. Next to the anthropomorphic robots there is a craft zone, and even a shaman’s ritual.”
“Stepping into the future is only based on traditions. This is called “feeling Russia.” – Organizers and guides tell.
“We all saw what a huge, beautiful country we have. I hope you have already tried and walked through the pavilions – from the Urals, across Siberia, the East, the North. Our various resorts, Golden Ring. It’s just that our eyes are wide open,” says Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation for Economics and Innovation, Communications, Media, as well as Culture, Tourism and Sports.
By the way, all this beauty did not come cheap for the regions participating in the exhibition. For example, the authorities of the Voronezh region spent 178 million rubles on their participation in the exhibition. In the Tambov region, this pleasure cost almost 96 million rubles. For St. Petersburg residents, the joy of participating in a grandiose exhibition was worth about 40 million rubles. The organization of the event itself cost the federal budget almost 2 billion rubles – this does not take into account what the regions, state-owned companies, large and medium-sized businesses and other participants invested in the exhibition.
