On Saturday, September 7, Acting Governor of the Samara Region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev visited the Public Monitoring Center (PMC), where he met with observers and assessed the progress of the election campaign. The head of the region supervised the work of the PMC observers and also held a videoconference meeting from the Public Headquarters with observer coordinators in the municipalities. Chairman of the Public Headquarters for Election Monitoring in the Samara Region Vadim Chumak reported that the election campaign is proceeding without violations. “Please do not relax, there is still a lot of work ahead before it is well organized, but control cannot be weakened, despite the fact that you are coping with your task,” said the head of the region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev. Video observers monitor compliance with citizens’ electoral rights and the voting process at polling stations and in territorial election commissions. A video wall has been installed at the CEC, which broadcasts video from randomly selected polling stations. “This also helps to achieve openness and transparency of the process, which will allow us to ensure the legitimacy of the entire electoral process,” said Ekaterina Smoroda, member of the Presidential Council for Human Rights and Civil Society Development. The Public Observation Center focuses all its work on public observation of the elections. This includes messages from public observers, which are assessed by professional lawyers, as well as messages from voters posted on social networks. The demonstration of informative messages from public observers at polling stations for Vyacheslav Fedorishchev was conducted by the President of the Public Headquarters for Election Observation in the Samara Region Vadim Chumak, the coordinator of the observers’ work on social networks Tamara Krushinina and the curator of interaction between public observers of the Samara Region and the All-Russian Independent Public Monitoring Alexander Ilyin. The Public Service Center is constantly open to representatives of the public and the media. It is visited by opinion leaders, representatives of political parties, candidates for the post of governor of the Samara Region, lawyers and electoral experts to share their assessments of electoral events. Members of the Public Headquarters are in daily contact with observers in all municipalities, including via video conference. Observers report all incidents at polling stations on the Independent Public Monitoring portal and in their personal accounts.
