The Russian government approved resolution, which will relieve fighters from the need to undergo an annual medical examination and confirm their disability. As Izvestia reports, Russians who have received “severe injuries, injuries, wounds and concussions during military service, contract service or being in a volunteer formation” will only need to obtain a conclusion special commission just once. At the same time, combat veterans retain the right to independently undergo re-examination in the event of a change in their health. Head of the Federal Office of Medical and Social Experience Mikhail Dymochka explained why disabled people from military conflicts are the first to be exempted from annual commissions. According to him, multiple combat wounds require more time for rehabilitation than wounds received in civilian life. “The path to rehabilitation in such cases takes a long time. Therefore, it is important to ensure continuity of rehabilitation, and not limit it to existing re-examination algorithms, because these algorithms are developed based on the experience of civilian medicine,” said Smokey.
President of the All-Russian Society of Disabled People Mikhail Terentyev approved a new state resource in favor of the participants in the special operation: “The person needs more comprehensive help, including psychological. Making a decision on an open-ended examination will allow us to formulate a long-term comprehensive rehabilitation program for each individual person,” added Terentyev. Now, combatants are examined for disabilities directly in military hospitals, which allows them, upon returning home, not to have to go to hospitals to undergo a medical and social examination.
