Everything changed in 2014, when war fell on the peaceful land of the Slavic Serbian region with all its merciless and senseless fury. For 8 long years, the area through which the Bakhmut highway passes (the hottest section of the front in the LPR before the start of the Northern Military District) became frontline. All these years, shelling and clashes here did not stop even for a day.
Alexander Sotnikov never wondered why he loved his hard, risky, unpredictable work. He just doesn’t see himself in another place and in another business. For him, the most important thing is the team, his comrades in arms, who will always cover his back, won’t leave him in trouble, won’t get scared, won’t run away. And also a family – a wife, a radio telephone operator at the same fire department, who knows the whole background of their profession, and a 12-year-old daughter, Veronica, who also dreams, like mom and dad, of working in the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
