Anatoly Sedykh, nicknamed the “Lipetsk Maniac,” didn’t look like a serial killer. But he was the one who killed 12 girls between 1998 and 2005. “God will punish you!” Sedykh shouted in the courtroom when he was sentenced to life imprisonment. The Lipetsk Strangler was often called Chikatilo-2. Sedykh was born in April 1963. He worked as a driver, was an exemplary family man, and raised two children. Among his friends and acquaintances, he was known as a good-natured person and the life of the party. No one would ever suspect him of being a cold-blooded killer. A Body on a Barbecue In the fall of 1998, Sedykh’s first victim was found in Lipetsk. A group of young people went out to relax in nature. Her entire body was covered in bruises, and there were rope marks on her neck. The young people immediately went to the police. A certain Elena Yanina was murdered. She had disappeared a few days earlier, returning home from a café. An unknown person had caught her, raped her, strangled her, and hid her body under leaves. After the death of the second girl, Tatyana Sysoeva, investigators were forced to admit that a serial killer had appeared in Lipetsk. Having met her friend, she left and was never contacted again. A friend of the deceased could recall that Tanya had joined the "six." The girl's body was found a few days later by mushroom pickers. She had also been beaten, raped, and strangled with her own clothes. In everyday life, the killer received the nickname "the Lipetsk strangler." The dead continued to be found. Sometimes it happened after so much time that it was impossible to even establish the identity of the deceased – the bodies had time to decompose. They were stripped, beaten, raped. By a lucky chance, two girls managed to survive after an encounter with the “Lipetsk maniac”. They started driving near a cafe while intoxicated. The driver was friendly and talkative. “And then I turned to the window and felt a strong blow to the back of my head,” the girl recalled. She regained consciousness five hours later somewhere in a forest area. Naked, covered in bruises and abrasions, with signs of violence and a T-shirt tied around her neck. Apparently, the maniac decided that the victim was dead and left her. The frightened girl went to the police. Based on her description, they managed to create a rough sketch of the criminal. Unfortunately, the victim remembered little. The only thing that came to mind was that the maniac drove a light-colored “six”. The police began searching for all suspicious vehicles. Miraculously, another victim of the attack survived. Like her fellow victim, she was drunk, and she herself agreed to go into the forest to have some fun. But, apparently, such a turn of events was not part of the plans of the "Lipetsk strangler". Having received a blow to the head, she also woke up in the forest naked, beaten and raped. Sedikh was neither a specialist in criminology nor a good psychologist, but he carefully selected his victims - drunk girls under 28. At night, in the dark, and drunk, they had almost no chance of remembering it, even if they managed to survive. None of the victims could properly describe the driver of the "six". The police, as before, did not have a single serious lead, and the maniac continued to kill. Whose fur coat is this? The maniac was miraculously not caught in 2000. Then his car was stopped on the outskirts of Lipetsk by a patrol of fish inspectors who were catching poachers. They asked permission to inspect the car. The driver reluctantly agreed. They found a woman's fur in the trunk. "This is my wife," the car owner admitted. He had nothing to show, and a light-colored VAZ was released. But something still confused the patrol. They followed the car's tracks and found another woman's body on the shore. That's when the investigators got a new version - the maniac's car was not light-colored, but green. There were more than three thousand of them in Lipetsk. And yet, they were all checked. Among other car owners, Sedykh volunteered. But the examination showed that he had an incorrect blood test, and none of the surviving girls could identify him. Eight years later, after another analysis of the "Lipetsk strangler's" biological material, the blood type would show the same thing. "A kind and pious man" The murders stopped in 2005. His son found one of these phones in 2008 and turned it on. As it became known later, the girl demanded that he leave his wife, otherwise she threatened to file a rape report with the police. , and then a wave of anger came, and I strangled her with clothes," Sedykh would later say. But the belongings of the murdered girls were found in the barn, and another analysis of the biomaterial confirmed all suspicions about the identity of the man sitting in the pretrial detention center.
