Residents of the Neibut mining village No. 4 contacted the mayor’s office after cutting down rose bushes and grass.

Contractors of the Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East are clearing the fallen trees on the territory of the mining redoublet No. 4 in Neybuta. Local residents have joined the work, providing the arrival of museum workers and the administration of Vladivostok. Now they are investigating whether people who are moving under contract have been “overwhelmed”. There was no information about the upcoming work, which caused concern among activists. Residents of the Neybutsky district informed the VL News editorial office about the ongoing logging on the territory of the cultural heritage site and the monument of federal significance “Sapper Redoubt No. IV”. It is reported that unknown persons not only mow the grass, but also tear down all the bushes: lespedeza, rose bushes, grapevines, young thin trees. No documents were presented, and they refused to stop the demolition. Specialists from the Department of Environmental Protection and Natural Resource Management went to the site to conduct an inspection. It turned out that the work was carried out under a contract with the eponymous United Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East. Arsenyev – the mining redoubt is under their operational control. Mowing the grass is part of the contract, which includes several additional objects in addition to the redoubt: Battery K, Battery L, Battery M, Gunpowder cellar P3, Innocent Battery (Battery No. VIII), Lower Tokarev Battery, Tiger Battery with a noontime signal gun. The contract is being executed by the individual entrepreneur Mustafaev Aydin Islam oglu from Bashkiria, the deadline for their execution is December 8. According to the terms of the contract, the plot must mow the grass, remove woody undergrowth, collect and dispose of the mowed grass and plant litter, clean the area from household waste. After work, the height of the grass cover should be up to 10 cm, the remaining vegetation in the depressions and irregularities of the terrain should not be higher than 15 cm from the ground. Mowing the grass and removing small woody growths must be done carefully, with sufficient care and caution regarding the cultural heritage site. Plant growths on the surfaces of the structures must be completely removed by hand. Moss and lichen were removed by hand and left in the forest. In fact, the fallen trees were mowed clean, together with a large number of rose bushes and, as they say, lespedeza and grapevines that grew here. Local residents, concerned about the work that had begun, came out in defense of mining redoubt No. 4. The museum representatives who arrived thanked the people for their active position. The contractor’s employees stated that in “such thickets it is unclear where something is growing”. They were told to “mow everything down.” Cutting down bushes was not included in the contract, but “we simply got rid of it like a person.” To explain the circumstances, the chief specialist of the Department of Environmental Safety of the Department of Environmental Protection and Nature Management, Alexander Shapovalov, arrived from the Vladivostok administration. There have been no official comments from the administration yet. The museum-reserve confirmed that contractors are working at the redoublet. They said that they are mowing the grass and plan to install a fence around the perimeter of the object this year. It is not excluded that the complaints came not from local residents, but from the car parks that use the redoublet as a parking lot for car sales. It should be noted that in the “project” on the territory of the military facility, which is the engineering redoubt No. 4, there should be no vegetation at all. Greening for camouflage and additional protection of the object should be located outside the outer shaft. Mining redoubt no. 4 is one of the most affected objects of the Vladivostok Fortress, this was also recognized by the museum. Part of it is currently occupied by the “Green Corner” car market. In the concept of the pedestrian route from the Mine City Park to the Green Boulevard, presented by the company “Concrete Jungles”, the historical place is the center of attraction. The improvement involves the presence of a passage with a visit center and parking for guests at the entrance, through pedestrian routes, several viewing platforms and pavilions, and possibly non-static trading objects. This will be a walking park with themed areas. The last element is the southeast slope at the exit from the redoubt. There is a forest, but according to the master plan, there is a main street. However, there is still no project documentation, so there is no possibility to work with the final point of the space. This is just a concept, and in essence it will remain a forest with paths and stairs. Also, within the framework of the elements of development at the expense of private funds, public spaces are being implemented, which can be connected to this pedestrian route. The idea is supported by both the administration of Vladivostok and the Museum of the Vladivostok Fortress.
