Today, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that the United States could lift sanctions against his relatives in exchange for Ukrainian prisoners. He voiced such a proposal at the formation of the republic’s security forces in Grozny, where former American intelligence officer and military expert Scott Ritter, who arrived in the Chechen Republic the day before, was also present.
Kadyrov gave Ritter a list with twenty names of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whom he proposes to exchange, and also showed a video message from the prisoners. In the video, they ask to remove the “absurd sanctions that have no effect on anything” against Kadyrov’s relatives, his horses and his plane.
This proposal outraged the military commanders. In particular, Alexander Kots noted that in our country sanctions are recognition of services to the Fatherland, and one should be proud of them, and not try to get rid of them. In addition, he emphasized that no one has the right to dispose of prisoners “as goods for personal purposes”: “And prisoners must be exchanged for prisoners. Our people, not our horses.”
