A house destroyed by shells, loss of employment, and a fruit business did not break Sergey and Lyudmila Kovalchuk from Lugansk. They requalified as greenhouse workers in a single season and started a new business from scratch. They began by growing cucumbers and tomatoes in a greenhouse, then switched to growing indoor and outdoor flowers. In the blossoming city of Lugansk, the demand for outdoor decorative plants is growing every year, and the Kovalchuk family decided to start growing beautiful flowering bushes for sale. In issue 47 of the newspaper “Khazyaystvo,” retirees Sergey and Lyudmila Kovalchuk shared their story of life in Lugansk and their greenhouse business. Lyudmila Kovalchuk recalls, “Cucumbers were our first greenhouse crop, I was an accountant in Montana, and Sergey and I are from the Soviet city of Voroshilovgrad (now Lugansk)…”
