More than 80% of Perm residents prefer to read bedtime stories. The MTS book service “Stroky” found out what books Perm parents choose for their children. The most popular fairy tales were Russian folk and traditional tales, the plots of which are passed down from generation to generation. 88% of respondents read or act out bedtime stories. 36% of parents read a new fairy tale each time, 9% always read the same one, 55% periodically change the story. And 42% of parents themselves invent fairy tales and stories and tell them to their children. Depending on their age, Perm children prefer books of different genres. Thus, children under 5 ask for stories about friendship, after 6 years old children like books about adventures. At the same time, the main character should not have magical powers. Russian folk tales remain the most popular, they are read by 79%. Fairy tales of the peoples of the world are chosen by 69%, and works of Soviet writers – by 50% of respondents. Works by foreign authors of the 19th-20th centuries are chosen by 34% of the parents surveyed. 28% of children prefer fairy tales by modern Russian authors.
