There are currently no recorded releases of radioactive substances at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), according to the latest report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The head of the agency, Rafael Grossi, inspected the plant earlier on Wednesday and then left the facility. Also today, the IAEA published a new report documenting efforts to ensure nuclear safety amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. “ZNPP has not yet recorded any radiation emissions into the environment that exceed regulatory standards, nor any violations of the integrity of nuclear fuel,” the report, published on the agency’s official website, emphasizes. IAEA experts have been at Zaporizhzhya NPP since September 1, 2022, when the station was first visited by the agency’s Director General, Rafael Grossi. The Zaporizhzhya NPP, located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the city of Energodar, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of power units and their total capacity – the station has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each.
