The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the fact that Latvian citizen Stanislav Bukains crossed the border. Earlier, Latvian media reported the disappearance of Bukains, who was being investigated in the case of Baltic anti-fascists. In addition, his five-year-old daughter was put on the international wanted list. According to the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk, the man, having crossed the border in the Pskov region, filed a petition with the Pskov migration service to recognize him as a refugee. His case was taken under the control of the chief director for migration issues of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. In his homeland, Mr. Bukains is accused of leading the organization “Anti-Fascists of the Baltics”, which, according to investigators, collected secret information in the interests of the Russian special services. Previously, he spent 7 months in a pre-trial detention center, after which he was released on bail of 40 thousand euros. This happened in October 2023.
