From July to August, fraudsters actively used three remote access schemes. They use programs disguised as company or government portal applications, as well as phishing links. This was reported on Friday, September 13, by the VTB press service. Fraudsters actively use remote access programs to extract personal data and funds from clients. Under various pretexts, they ask to install a fake application on a smartphone or follow a phishing link, and then use it to steal money or apply for a loan. The bank noted that the most common such scenarios for remote access are calls from attackers on behalf of employees of the State Services portal, RIA Novosti reports. It became known that fraudsters have come up with a new fraud scheme using a fake statement from the Russian Ministry of Health. The attackers call those who have recently undergone a medical examination and offer to install a service to receive money. After that, the criminals gain access to the victims’ bank cards. Before that, it became clear that Russia could introduce fines for services for collecting and processing excessive personal data. This measure will be taken because there is a problem of violations of the law on personal data related to leaks and theft of personal information of citizens, which is collected by commercial structures.
