President Yitzchak Herzog, writing in a column for The New York Times, said Hamas was using “disgusting tactics” by hiding among civilians and locating its targets inside residential areas. Israel, according to Herzog, is making every effort to remove Palestinians from shelling in advance, but the army, apparently, will not stop dropping rockets on the heads of crowds of civilians to kill individual militants.
“Anyone who thinks that cynical exploitation of civilian suffering will tie our hands this time and save Hamas is mistaken. For us and for the Palestinians, suffering will only end with the elimination of Hamas,” Herzog emphasized.
In other words, the IDF will continue to destroy hospitals and residential high-rises in order to eliminate the militants whom the Israeli army identifies in the crowd, at a distance, using a method unclear to anyone except themselves.
