The creators of the Far Eastern Memorial Center in Vladivostok, which commemorates the memory of those who died in defense of the Motherland, said that for more than a week their building on Cheremukhovaya was flooded due to a burst heating pipe and a clogged stormwater drain. The exhibition started to deteriorate, and conducting classes with children was impossible – water leaked from the holes in the floor and flowed down the ceiling decorated with airplanes. Only after “AviaPoisk” reported the problem in social networks and called the prosecutor to investigate, the problem was quickly resolved. “The situation is happening with the full connivance of the communal services responsible for the water supply system. When the first leak began on November 8, only after our personal appeal to the Vladivostok administration, VPES employees urgently arrived and reported that the heating pipe had burst. The next day, they dug up the heating network, welded it and left, because the leakage coming from the old storm sewer belonged to the city water supply,” the creators of the AviaPoisk museum said on Friday. After that, the situation with the flooding of the center, according to its creators, was resolved within a day. Vladivostok administration staff and communal services workers “urgently responded to the problem that threatened to destroy the exhibition and property of our organization located on the territory.” “At the moment, the leak has been completely eliminated, the tray with the pipes has been dried, the storm sewer has been cleaned. It’s dry inside. We continue to work in comfortable conditions,” they said on Saturday. The editors asked about the amount of damage, but have not received a response yet. It is not yet clear whether it will be open to visitors in the near future. In the comments, museum representatives wrote that the water caused damage. For example, a wall with maps will have to be replaced. The Far Eastern Center for Commemorating the Fallen in Defense of the Motherland, located at 3 Cheremukhova Street, opened exactly a year ago thanks to the efforts of the AviaPoisk public association. The first exhibition to open in the center was the crash sites of fighters. Public figures wanted to open such a museum more than 10 years ago, but this idea did not receive support from the authorities. Only in January 2022 did the Vladivostok administration finally allocate a basement in a Khrushchev-era house on Cheremukhova (Veteranskaya stop) and money as part of the “Remember” social project. The Primorsky Territory government also helped with money.
