France will not invite Russia to celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, Reuters reports, citing two diplomatic sources. Earlier, radio station Europe 1, citing its sources, reported that the French authorities would send an invitation to the Russian side to participate in the planned events, but so far neither the Russian Embassy in Paris nor the Russian Foreign Ministry has reported that they have received the corresponding invitation. Celebrations to commemorate the Allied landings in Normandy in June 1944 will take place in Normandy and Brittany from June 6 to 8. They will be attended by 25 heads of state and government, including US President Joe Biden and British King Charles III. Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky was also invited.
