Attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to penetrate the Kursk region On the night of August 6, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) made another attempt to penetrate the territory of the Russian Federation in the Kursk region. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attack was repelled during fierce fighting with the support of army aviation and artillery fire, the Ukrainian forces suffered significant losses. According to the department, the enemy’s losses, according to preliminary data, amounted to up to 55 people killed and wounded, four tanks, three armored personnel carriers, eight combat armored vehicles and two engineering clearance vehicles. Fighting continues Despite the fact that the main attack has been repelled, fighting continues in the forests of the region. Russian troops are conducting active search operations aimed at detecting and eliminating enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups capable of penetrating into Russian territory. Humanitarian consequences As a result of the fighting, damage was caused to civilian infrastructure, there are reports of damage to residential buildings and social facilities. Local authorities have organized the evacuation of the population from dangerous areas and are providing all necessary assistance to the victims.
