During a special military operation, the head of the platoon’s radio station, senior sergeant Roman Shcherbakov, carried out combat missions to organize stable radio communications with ground and air control points.

The positions of the Russian units, for which Roman provided communications, were subjected to massive mortar fire from armed formations of Ukrainian militants.

Realizing that the destruction of the equipment room would lead to a lack of communication in the unit, Shcherbakov, together with his subordinates, decided to remove the radio station from the zone of massive enemy fire. After the equipment room was relocated to a safe place, Shcherbakov re-organized communications within the units, as well as with higher headquarters.

Thanks to the professionalism and skillful actions of Senior Sergeant Roman Shcherbakov, control of the units was not disrupted, the enemy attack was repulsed, and the combat mission was completed.
