The competition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the first Head of the Komi Republic, Yuri Spiridonov, takes place from November 17 to 19 at the Republican Stadium and is organized within the framework of the project “Sport – Standard of Living” of the national project “Demography”. In the Komi Republic Bandy Cup “Acquaintance”, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Yuri Spiridonov, 8 children’s teams from Syktyvkar, Kotlas, Arkhangelsk, Monchegorsk, Pervouralsk, Kirov, Korolev, as well as 4 adult teams from Syktyvkar, Kirov and Moscow are participating. . The first Head of Komi, Yuri Alekseevich Spiridonov, was born on November 1, 1938. He was a devoted fan of The Builder. Being a fan of Russian hockey, he made a lot of efforts to popularize this sport in Komi. Largely thanks to his support, in 1993 “Stroitel” became the silver medalist of the Russian Championship for the first time in the history of the team. In 2001, Yuri Spiridonov established a bandy tournament for prizes from the Head of the Komi Republic. The competition participants were welcomed by the Head of Komi, Vladimir Uiba. “Along with the major league teams, children’s clubs will also compete for medals in our competitions. I am convinced that in every match, regardless of the age of the hockey players, there will be intense, emotional struggle. With this tournament we open the next hockey season in Syktyvkar. I am sure that this will become another bright page in the history of Russian hockey in the Komi Republic. I wish all athletes fair team play and unforgettable impressions for the spectators. Hooray!” Before the start of the tournament, Vladimir Uyba visited the exhibition “The History of the Development of Bandy in the Komi Republic and the History of the Creation of the Stroitel-Syktyvkar Hockey Club,” which will soon open at the Republican Stadium. Several sections of the exhibition have already been prepared – about history, legendary players, coaches of the “Builder” team, about the tournament for the prizes of the newspaper “Soviet Russia”, the Head Bandy Cup named after. A. Spiridonova. There is also a TV installed here, which will show digitized videos of “The Builder”, and in the season – broadcasts of the team’s away games.
