For some are confident that they can eat everything, but the weak eat vegetables. The comments of the “Lenten Fathers” and their Internet children about what those who perished in their sins received received continue to amaze us. Don’t you, fathers and brothers, have headaches? Are the halos too tight? In your fasts and prayers there is neither mercy nor love, without which fasting is a diet, and prayer is an inattentive shaking of air. The devil, too, does not eat the meager food, and prays to God ((Job 2:1-7) and (Luke 22:31)), and “even the demons believe and tremble” (James 2:19). Without love our faith is in vain (Cor. 15:17), for God is love!
