School student Artem Donskov, who took an active part in the evacuation of Crocus City Hall visitors at the time of the shooting, shared that the main problem was organizing people and directing them to the nearest emergency exits. In an interview for Channel One, the guy said that he was 14 years old and worked part-time in a concert hall to earn pocket money on his own. During the incident, Donskov was on the lower level of the building with his colleagues from the cloakroom.
The student said that moments before the start of the concert, when the crowd descended to the lower floor, one of the employees warned about the shooting.
“People immediately rushed to the office premises, but there was a dead end there. When about a hundred people were confused, not understanding what to do next, we decided to take the initiative to evacuate ourselves,” Donskov noted.
His comrade Islam Khalilov opened the emergency exit door, and the boys began directing people towards him. Donskov mentioned that a week before the events, staff were briefed on what to do in the event of a terrorist attack.
“The hardest thing was to convey to everyone that we needed to act quickly because the situation could get worse at any second,” he added.
