A resident of Ezhva, who out of revenge hit a visitor to a local bar, a 33-year-old local resident, has been convicted. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberately provoking the infliction of moderate harm to health, not dangerous to human life, but resulting in long-term health problems). The state prosecution was supported by a representative of the prosecutor’s office of the Yezhvinsky district of Syktyvkar. The court noted that on May 28, 2023, a drunk resident of Yezhva noticed a visitor in the Viola bar who, it seemed to him, had touched a resident of Yezhva with a burning cigarette some time earlier in the same establishment. Wanting to take revenge for the burn, the man approached the visitor and hit him in the face. As a result of the impact, the victim lost his balance and fell, receiving injuries in the form of a closed head injury and a displaced fracture of the nasal bones. In the courthouse, a resident of Ezhvin admitted his guilt, repented of his crime and apologized to the victim. The court sentenced him to 1 year of forced labor with the withholding of 5% of his salary to the state. The resolution did not come into force. The investigation into the case was conducted by police department No. 2 of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Syktyvkar.
