The total weight of the cargo was 20.3 tons, which was sent for sale in the region. This was reported by representatives of the department's press service. When checking a bunch of apples at a fruit and vegetable base in Yekaterinburg, a quarantine pest was identified - the Californian scale insect. Despite the discovery of infested fruits that pose a certain risk, the supply was allowed for further sale. This is the first case of the importation of such a pest in 2024. Californian scale insects most often affect apple trees, pears, plums, cherries and apricots. On March 15, more than four tons of contaminated oranges arrived in Yekaterinburg stores.
