The Federal Tax Service (FTS) has begun notifying Russian citizens of the need to pay tax on interest received on bank deposits for 2023. This was reported by RBC on Tuesday, September 17. The messages indicate the names of the banks in which taxpayers have deposits, the amount of accrued interest, the taxable portion of this amount, and the total amount of debt, the publication explains. In addition, 2023 was the first year in which the FTS introduced income tax on deposit income. Russians must pay by December 1, 2024. According to current legislation, all interest income for the year on all deposits in Russian banks is taxed minus the non-taxable amount, which last year amounted to 150 thousand rubles, RBC reports. The new law on tourist tax came into force on January 1, 2025. The tax will replace the resort fee, which will be collected until the end of this year in a number of regions of Russia – in Crimea, St. Petersburg, Stavropol Krai, as well as in Crimea, as well as in Kuban and Altai
