Publication in CHAT: Russia

The State Duma has adopted a law on the right of local hospitals to sell medicines in small towns where there are no stationary pharmacies. The proposed changes are intended to solve the problem of providing medicines to residents of remote villages with a population of 20 thousand people, the press service of the state body reports. In addition to hospitals, retail sale of medicines in such villages and settlements is permitted in feldsher-obstetric institutions and obstetric stations. The bill also stipulates that “the sale of medicines will be carried out by people with medical education who have completed certain retraining courses.”
