Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. According to him, it is being carried out to protect the population from the Kyiv regime, as well as to demilitarize and denazify the neighboring country. On June 14, Putin announced the terms of a ceasefire and the start of negotiations. Among them are the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, recognition of these territories as Russian, suspension of sanctions, as well as neutral, non-aligned and non-nuclear status for Ukraine. The initiative was rejected in Kyiv.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had taken control of the village of Razdolovka in the DPR.
