A highway collapsed in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, trapping 23 cars under the rubble. Xinhua agency reports this. The accident occurred on Wednesday on an expressway leading from Guangdong to Fujian province. According to local authorities, the cause of the highway collapse could have been heavy rain. Currently, 36 deaths are known. Another 30 people were injured and are receiving medical attention. Work continues on site to eliminate the consequences of the crisis. Earlier, the Paninsky Bridge collapsed in the Smolensk region. At the time of the incident, there were two cars on the overpass – a car and a truck. In total, five people were injured, including one child.
