This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of Chuvashia. A man who was replanting a plant with his wife received a burn to his eye due to milk juice getting into his eye. This case highlights the importance of careful handling of plants that contain toxic substances: milkweed is known for its medicinal properties, but its sap can be dangerous. It causes burns if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes, and may also cause poisoning if swallowed. The chief physician of the ophthalmological hospital, Irina Vasilyeva, advises in such cases to immediately rinse your eyes and seek medical help. You can also use disinfectant drops. To prevent such incidents, it is necessary to take precautions when caring for milk. The plant must be stored in places inaccessible to children and animals, and all manipulations with it must be done with gloves and safety glasses. It is also important to avoid preparing medicines from milk yourself, buying them only in pharmacies after consulting a doctor.
