Currently, Armenia remains a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this in an interview with Al Jazeera TV channel. At the same time, he noted, the problem of the actual functioning of the organization’s mechanisms is acute. The CSTO, in his opinion, is a military-political union that is “designed to protect the borders of member states.” “The lack of an adequate response has raised questions in Armenian society, and we do not want to be part of a dysfunctional mechanism,” the minister added. Earlier, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced the conditions for the country’s withdrawal from the Organization.
